Item Description: This contribution details aspects of collaboration with the departments of computer science at Swansea University and the University of Utah into methods that increase accessibility to and improve understanding of distributed data, typically containing results from computational simulations. Visualization of vectors fields often relies on clustering to reduce the information to an accessible level. This paper introduces novel approaches to clustering based on combinations of conventional and alternative metrics. These and other techniques developed during this collaboration are currently in use by the Low Carbon Research Institute: Marine to improve accessibility to their computational predictions.
