Abstract: Based on the findings from a survey on Deaf/Hard of Hearing Audiences' use of digital television in Wales, this paper investigates the accessibility possibilities and barriers of communication facing this group of audiences in the post-switchover era. The paper concludes that Deaf/ Hard of Hearing audiences still face difficulties in accessing quality subtitling that there are no significant age differences in experiencing such difficulties. Meanwhile, we note the significant differences in knowledge of other digital services among this audience group and many digital television features remain hidden affordances for the elder members of the audience.
