Abstract: Burn injuries are common in resource poor environments and conflict zones. Modern burn care includes numerous advanced technologies to improve outcomes, not all of which are applicable to a low resource environment. This article reviews the use of dermal regeneration templates and discusses the need to balance what can be done versus what should be done, taking into account economic costs as well as the needs of the individual versus the needs of the population.
