Item Description: This interdisciplinary paper makes a fundamental contribution by offering the first solution to a very difficult problem of constructing large Petri nets motivated by smart grid security. The paper combines concepts from programming and mathematical modeling to create a novel method of constructing arbitrarily large Petri nets from smaller Petri nets. An international collaboration with Polytechnic University of Cartagena and Avaya Research Labs. It pioneers a new research direction in young field of smart grid security which is a top priority for many governments. Journal started only in 2009, impact factor: 2.5.
