Item Description: This paper investigates an optical burst switching network using all-optical gain clamped erbium-doped fibre amplifiers in order to determine the impact of the burst length and inter-arrival time in the performance of stabilized amplification. The relevant frequency regions are found for several duty cycles and are particular critical in the range from 5 to 35 kHz. The identified nonlinear dynamic effects may be reduced by assembling asynchronously the burst channels at the edge nodes. This work was part of the European funded FP7 project #216863.
