This paper builds on the work in paper 2 above with CCTL and describes the comparisons between the enhanced CFD model with experimental measurements on the degree of haemolysis that occurs in prototype miniaturised blood pumps. The work shows how the enhanced CFD model is discriminating enough to capture the impact of small design changes to the pump on the levels of haemolysis recorded by the experimental measurements. This work enabled pump designs to be finalised and animal clinical trials to begin in earnest. |
