This analysis will involve a study of the characteristics of UK shareholder-oriented rules, as well as an examination of recent rapid changes in the field that have increasingly had a bearing on the governance structures and processes of companies, so as to speculate on the way forward. Both legal and theoretical aspects will be used to provide a critical account of the practices reflecting shareholder primacy in the UK. In the wake of the financial crisis, this book will also analyse changes in governing rules and regulations and their implications for preserving the objective of shareholder primacy.
