Item Description: The NSF Blue Ribbon Panel on Simulation Based Engineering Sciences report in 2006 identified Dynamic Data-Driven Application Systems (DDDAS) as one of the five core issues or challenges in the field for the next decade. This panel concluded that DDDAS ‘‘will rewrite the book on the validation an verification of computer predictions’’. This paper addresses the challenge identified in this report. This work has been carried out as part of the EADS Foundation Chair at Ecole Centrale Nantes and addresses EADS challenges in composite structures (didier.guedra-degeorges@eads.net).
