Item Description: Specific chiralities of single walled carbon nanotubes act as ballistic conductors that could be used for zero loss electrical conduction, however, traditional synthesis results in complex mixtures of chiralities that are not readily separated. We pioneered the concept, and first demonstrated, that ability to take a short nanotube and grow it longer with retained structure. We termed this process amplification. This paper reports that this process can be controlled to allow for a high yield amplification of the nanotube which in turn opens the possible synthesis of large scales of pure conductive nanotubes.
