Abstract: This VSI contains an original introduction and a collection of articles from previous issues of Sociology & Illness that bear on the issues raised by the recent events at the Mid-Staffs NHS Trust. The volume focuses on recommendations contained in the Francis Reports for changes in regulation and governance that might safeguard the safety and quality of NHS hospital care. This VSI complements companion VSIs which focus on patient care and accountability issues raised by Francis. All the VSIs are published as open-access, online only issues on the Wiley Sociology of Health & Illness website.
Item Description: Hughes also co-authored the general introduction to this series of three VSIs on Francis, which is listed as a separate output.
