Item Description:
I have published extensively on the design and performance of semiconductor laser diodes including quantum dot lasers. The design of quantum dot lasers is complicated by the transfer of charge to the quantum confined electronic states that has a significant effect on device performance. We realized we could simplify the analysis by considering the thermodynamics of the electrons in the dot system and subsequently developed simple analytic expressions for device design which are instinctive and simple to use for non experts.
