This paper presents a fundamental numerical development that essentially establishes a bridge between two major, but so far isolated, research areas in modern numerical analysis: iterative solution techniques for linear algebraic equations and time integration algorithms for differential equations. The theoretical significance of this contribution has been fully recognised by the two reviewers. The potential impact of the work is described in the paper. |
