Item Description: This is an exercise to significantly improve the efficiency of industrially relevant explicit discretisations. The work has led to applications in new areas, such as viscoelasticity, solids and biomedical research. This contribution was awarded the Zienkiewicz Silver Medal and Prize of the UK Institution of Civil Engineers in 2002. It formed the basis for keynote lectures at HEFAT, Cairo 2005 and the 9th Annual CFD Symposium, Bangalore 2006.
