Item Description: |
The paper presents a new method to select the elements for refinement in adaptive finite element solutions. The method, denoted as bulk criterion, is not difficult to implement and guarantees the convergence of the scheme, with an improved convergence rate with respect to the maximum refinement rule usually adopted in the engineering literature. The paper was presented at the ADMOS Conference in 2005 at the invitation of the organizers. |
