This paper resulted from an EPSRC project (GR/S70968) on developing improved methods for subsurface reservoir simulation. A new flux is presented for solving systems of hyperbolic conservation laws, aimed at avoiding characteristic decomposition while reducing the numerical diffusion introduced by the LLF flux that is commonly used in central formulations. The multi-physics nature of the work is demonstrated with aerospace applications. This novel development is gaining interest in industrial research (H. Friis HelmerAndre.Friis@iris.no). |
