Abstract: This article focuses on the idiosyncratic representations of demonic entities that wield knives on their feet or secondary limbs. Beginning in the New Kingdom, they appear occasionally on rings or seals, but more usually on household furniture such as beds, chairs and headrests. This particular iconography is rare not only in Ancient Egyptian art but in representations of liminal entities in other cultures. The goal of this discussion is to analyse this foot-knife demon icon in terms of its context, the nature of the weapon itself, and the pose.
