The cosmopolitan phytoplankton species Phaeocystis globosa forms colonies of up to 3 cm in diameter, the largest phytoplankton colony size known in nature. In this paper we combined empirical data and a novel carbon-based model to predict the growth and maximal size of P. globosa colonies. |
