Abstract: |
A high volume of research work related to change management discusses the need to evaluate readiness as an important point prior to making change. This paper focuses on increasing the readiness of public hospitals in Saudi Arabia. It analyses the interrelationships between organizational readiness and individual preparedness. The study reported here used a mixed method approach to identify deficiencies and to assess the potential for improvement. The research findings show that flaws in organisational readiness can cause significant issues for individuals’ readiness and that this may hinder the success of change activities. Based on the findings presented in this study, we recommend practices that could assist in overcoming the challenge of organisational readiness. Our results focus attention on individual attitude and willingness to change. It is argued these are crucial factors in the success or failure of any improvement activity |
