These guidelines align with similar international initiatives, taking account of new evidence from clinical trials of cardiac arrest management. In an effort to improve long-term survival after cardiac arrest in the community, national strategies confirm the importance of the &#x2018;chain of survival&#x2019; concept that summarizes important components of successful resuscitation.
