Student reflections are examined througha focus group methodology and material from reflective journals,reporting discomfort but valuable learning outcomes, particularlyin the degree of caring about others forced into alternative formsof mobility. Whilst an uncomfortable visit for many students, wehave found this a useful discussion exercise against a backdropof increasing migration controls, and an important contrast inrelation to unfettered tourist mobility.
