Abstract: The volume provides a series of analyses of some contemporary debates on human rights of children. It resituates these debates within the visions which informed the text of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. Authors include leading experts drawing on intimate knowledge of the Convention from its conception to the present day. Some current interprtations of the Convention are examined, as well as what is implied by a human rights based approach in research and advocacy, and certain advances and barriers in research and implementation. The editorial approach and many of the contributions seek to reposition children's rights where they belong: in the realm of human rights, engaging constructively with the ongoing chllenges of implementation.
