Item Description: This paper (IF 2.32) is based on a study of void formation from volatile compounds during recycling of polymers. It stems from a project that was undertaken in collaboration with Axion Recycling Ltd, partly funded by a KTN SPARK award, and the results led to changes to recycling practices that eliminate the problem. It is an excellent example of how qulaity academic research can solve real technical problems in industry. This collaboration has helped Axion gain investment of several million pounds to set up the UK's largest recycling facility for waste electrical plastics (contact: k.freegard@axionrecycling.co.uk).
