Abstract: This chapter explores the case of Swansea University through Infrastructure and Activity initiatives, drawing upon experience of the initial Covid-19 crisis, with potential insight for other post-industrial regions. These initiatives emphasise the diverse interactions across innovation ecosystems to realise health sector innovation, aligned with knowledge-based regional economic development. Universities evolve over periods measured in decades and generations, however the recent crisis has required swifter response of university impact, beyond the longer-term Research Excellence and Knowledge Exchange Frameworks perspectives. This chapter demonstrates how the experience of early 2020 has shown university agility in the health crisis response which may be of further importance for the impending economic crisis.
