Item Description: This well cited paper arose from a project, led by A. M. Higgins, which was a collaboration with Prof D. G. Lidzey in Sheffield. Structural studies (funded by STFC, PI; A. M. Higgins) were combined with optoelectronic measurements to quantify the impact of interface composition on photophysics. This work provides insight into the behaviour of the conjugated polymers found within a variety of plastic electronic devices, such as LEDs, transistors and solar cells, and makes a significant contribution to a fundamental understanding of the interface design rules required for improved device performance.
