Item Description: |
This paper showed that an effective way for reducing signal-signal four wave mixing in optical parametric amplifiers (OPAs) is to increase the pump power and reduce the fiber length. This crosstalk mechanism is known to be a major limitation for the use of OPAs in broadband communication systems, which are esential for handling the ever-growing Internet traffic. This approach is now recognized as an essential requirement for the design of state-of-the-art OPAs for optical communication. It was essential in enabling us to amplify a 1 Tb/s spectrum through an OPA, which still stands as a record today (Output 3). |
