Item Description: This article reports the effectiveness of gain control technique to stabilize amplifier at the presence of optical burst switching (OBS) traffic provided by Spanish Research RedIris network. In particular, the paper thoroughly investigates the dynamic performance of the all-optical gain control (OGC) amplifier and discusses the interplay of amplifier dynamics with different traffic statistics. The experimental results have proven the effectiveness and simplicity of the OGC technique for burst traffic. This work was part of the European funded FP7 project #216863, in collaboration with two Spanish universities.
