Abstract: An evaluation index system consisting of 1 target layer, 5 criteria layers and 16 indicators was constructed considering the wetland hydrology, physical form, water quality, aquatic life and social services. Based on the index system, the wetland health index was used to evaluate the wetland health status. Taking the Nandagang wetland in Hebei Province of China as a case study, we evaluated its health status and identified the main stress causing health risk in 2019 based on field sampling, remote sensing, questionnaire survey as well as statistical data. Results showed that the Nandagang wetland was in sub-health in 2019, and the main pressures were little flow in and out, intensive agricultural and aquaculture activities, extreme water shortage and excessive water resources utilisation.
