Item Description: IF 2.072, Citations 2. International collaborative research with King's College, London and Clausthal University of Technology, Germany demonstrating that careful alloy selection through computational thermodynamics and solidification processing using high intensity ultrasound can be combined to produce a well refined and dispersed microstructure through liquid miscibility gap where even microgravity environment fails to prevent severe phase segregation. Effect of alloy composition and origin of microstructure tailoring is explained. This opens up a practically effective method for processing immiscible alloys, which have traditionally been important in bearing applications and have recently been identified for giant magnetoresistive (GMR) and superconducting material.
