While GenAI has streamlined tasks such as summarizing literature and drafting manuscripts, it has also introduced significant ethical and practical challenges. Key concerns include authorship, where GenAI falls short of meeting intellectual or accountability criteria, as well as the increasing threat of plagiarism, originality issues, and the spread of misinformation. The review also highlights biases embedded in GenAI generated content and the implications for academic fairness and inclusivity. Additionally, it addresses transparency and accountability challenges in AI use within academic environments.
