Item Description: This work prompted a change in UK driving law. Rhys presented systematic review to the DVLA nervous disorders meeting in March 2009 (www.dft.gov.uk/dvla/medical/medical.../mins_12032009.ashx). The data prompted the panel to recommend a change in driving eligibility for people with exclusively sleep related seizures. The ruling now says “The rules for Group 1 drivers who have only ever had sleep seizures have been relaxed to allow them to be licensed after a year if they continue to have only sleep seizures. Drivers who have previously had an awake seizure can still be considered for a licence when they have set a pattern of three years of only sleep seizures. “The article was the Editor's choice and Rhys was interviewed for the JNNP podcast.
