Abstract: This volume examines and revises women's literary history from 700 to 1500, refuting the general apprehension that there were very few women writers of significance during the Middle Ages. It considers in a new light a wealth of women writers from the period within a context of the deeply multicultural and polylingual milieu which constituted medieval Britain.
