Abstract: |
Taking a life-cycle approach to the lives of medieval women, this book brings together over 100 excerpts from medieval writings relating to women's lives from the ninth to the fourteenth centuries, many in English translation for the first time. with a substantial introduction problematising the types of sources used, the book is composed of five chapters each relating to a life stage. Each stage in the life-cycle is introduced with a further historiographical essay in order to assist in providing context for the selections. The book is aimed squarely at an undergraduate readership and encourages further research by giving details of the sources used. |
