Abstract: Measure for Measure, William Shakespeare. (Script version/dramaturgy by D.J.Britton) first performed. Sherman Cymru, Cardiff, November 2010. An innovative site-specific script version for seven actors and a musician based on both hisorical/literary and performance research. The play was staged in a a dusused banking hall in Cardiff's docklands, in an area now part of the city's red-light district, and the script was haped to emphasise the original play's questioning of wealth and sex. The Guardian’s four-star review noted: ‘The production most impresses with its audacious approach to the text in DJ Britton's intriguing reshaping. The result is a shorter, sharper drama, and one that feels all the darker for that. It's ravishing to look at, but resists any easy answers about what drives us when power and desire join forces.’
