Writing as D.J.Britton, Swansea University Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing David Britton created the scripts for When Greed Becomes Fear; Safe As Houses; Welcome to the Wasteland, three 45-minute research-based ‘Rapid Response’ original plays for BBC Radio 4 prompted by news events, beginning with the critically-acclaimed first dramatic response to the 2007/8 Financial crash. (Telegraph, Independent, Guardian). Innovative in both style and content. Broadcast Feb 2008, July 2008 and March 2009. Featuring Hattie Morahan, Pennie Downie, Rory Kinnear, Lesley Sharp, these dramas each reached an audience of approx 1 million. The BBC has now commissioned a further two associated plays from Britton under the title "When Greed Becomes Hunger" to be broadcast in 2013. These will focus on the word food shortage. |
