This work in some sense highlights the ideal notion in nanomedicine, of going from pure modelling work to the suggestion of new therapeutics. In this case, the modelling of hemoglobin fibers growing within real live red blood cells was carried out, which is associated with the disease of sickle cell anaemia. This work was carried out in collaboration with experimental colleagues at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, USA, and led to a very prestigious invited talk at the IOP CMMP06 conference in Exeter. |
