Abstract: Features associated with poor clinical outcome of patients with ODRI caused by S. epidermidis were predicted by genome sequence analysis of 104 invasive isolates. The multifactorial pathogenesis of ODRI was emphasised by the detection of a number of factors that have an impact on patient clinical outcome such as multiple revisions surgeries, biofilm formation and antibiotic resistance. Poor treatment outcome was associated with a small number of mobile elements that could potentially be used as prognostic markers for ODRI treatment outcome.
