Item Description: |
Published in the leading journal for corrosion research (Impact factor 3.7 citations 13), this work presents the effect of ternary Mg additions on the corrosion resistance of Zn/Al alloy coatings. Small Mg additions significantly reduce the corrosion performance of the material and this has led Tata Steel to remove them from production processes thus extending product lifetimes (Paul.Jones@tatasteel.com). The paper has also led to a number of further research projects on the development of higher Mg containing alloys that can offer improved performance (Tata Steel, Value £102,000, jon.elvins@tatasteel.com). The work has contributed to an EPSRC Platform Grant (EP/D05284X/1, value £426,685). |
