Abstract: Current literature focuses on the use of organised continuing professional (CPD) events to record evidence of learning – particularly for NMC revalidation. There are many informal learning opportunities that take place in the workplace which are not routinely used to record CPD, although nurses do recognise these situations as work based learning activities e.g. professional conversations with colleagues, feedback from others, or case conferences. This article aims to provide practical examples of using a work based learning approach to record CPD for NMC revalidation and annual appraisal meetings.
