A range of induction programmes are available for support workers throughout the NHS but these may not be accessed until days or even weeks following recruitment. Traditionally, in many organizations support workers start their first day in post with no prior training or introduction. This can leave them feeling vulnerable and demoralised. An innovative approach to the delivery of an accredited induction programme for newly recruited support workers has recently been launched in Aneurin Bevan Health Board, Wales. This article outlines the induction programme and the perceived benefits. |
