Abstract: This chapter discusses how a principled approach to enhancing undergraduate assessment can be applied and successfully managed in a higher education (HE) institutional setting, and especially within an increasingly online and blended learning context. Firstly, we propose a framework of principles that can be used to guide assessment practices based on our analysis and evaluation of current assessment literature. We then discuss how such principles have been successfully applied in one particular higher education setting, Swansea University, in the UK. Finally, we focus specifically on assessment developments in the School of Law.
