It will then explore the motivations and aspirations of migrant new speakers, considering their role in language revitalisation and the extent to which they can be recognised as legitimate Welsh speakers. Using sociolinguistic research methods, the study will assess the opportunities and challenges faced by a group of refugee new speakers learning Welsh at the Oasis community centre in Cardiff.
