Considered state-of-the art. We propose for the first time a method to characterize PD loss (main limitation for high-power laser) in active fibres. We shows how to predict PD temporal evolution and we allow to calculate laser power degradation. This work was part of the largest EU project on Fibre Lasers.IF:3.75, Citations:11Collaboration: Gooch&Housego (worldleader, UK) iXFIber (SME, FR), Politecnico di Torino (IT), Perfos (SME, FR).Follow up: Standard discussed with VDA/CEN-TC123.
