Item Description: First demonstration of new technique for to mitigate PD effect in Yb-doped fibers (main limitations in power scaling of high-power fibre lasers). It is suitable for commercial applications since for the first time use 633 nm radiation instead of visible/UV light. The work was part of the largest FP7 project on fiber lasers (LIFT) and is expected to have a impact in the field. IF:3.399, Citations:3International Collaboration: IXFiber (SME), France, Photonic Bretagne (Cluster), France Follow up: Implementation of the idea in commercial lasers at 1030 nm. Discussion with Laser manufacturers. Joint experiments with EOLITA (France) and NKT (Denmark)
