This workshop will be a presentation of two Erasmus funded exchange visits I made to Oulu, Finland in 2013 and 2014. During these two visits I developed two specific strategies for encouraging engagement with these students, and increasing their confidence in the use of English. My presentation at this workshop will outline the two teaching stategies. One was achieved using interactive student discussion, and one using Turning Technologies student response cards. Student evaluation of both teaching sessions was very positive, with an increase in confidence in the use of English language being seen as a positive. The comments I received from the students included “I’d forgotten I was speaking English”, “I didn’t realise I could speak so much English” and “that was fun!” |
