Abstract: The New Curriculum for Wales provides a unique opportunity to develop new units of work to deliver high quality climate change education. This paper describes a collaboration between academics from science, geography and modern languages disciplines, with classroom teachers at a Welsh primary school to develop a unit of work on clothing choices and the climate emergency.. The unit of work encouraged students to think about their clothing – where it came from, how it was looked after and where it went after disposal. Students learnt technical language such as “biodegradable” and “sustainable”, were encouraged to be creative by upcycling clothing and engaged in activism, writing letters to politicians about sustainable clothing.
