We showed through extensive simulations that using optimised sub bit delay in the receiver demodulator significant dispersion tolerance (3dB) and improved tolerance to tight filtering can be obtained in DPSK systems. This is straightforward to apply in practical systems but is totally couter intuitive and unconventional.
