Abstract: This article examines the concept of parental engagement in young people’s learning, as it relates to practice within Catholic schools. This examination will utilise the lens of Catholic Social Teaching, and church teaching more widely, to amplify the importance of supporting parents to engage with their children’s learning in Catholic schools. The paper proposes a new conceptualisation of the influences that impact on parents’ engagement with learning and concludes with a call for further training for teachers.
